A.V. Smirnov's new book — "The Event and Things" — is out of print

19.12.2016

The book of Andrey Smirnov, an academician, doctor of Philosophy, director and head of the Philosophy of Islamic World Department of the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences, has seen the light with the support of the Islamic Culture Research Foundation, the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences and YASK and Sadra publishing houses.

This books tells us how a meaning is formed in the Arab and Muslim culture. It is illustrated with the example of the "harf", which developed in the Arab linguistic tradition since the 8th century. It is demonstrated that the “harf” can not be accurately interpreted using the European linguistic categories, such as phonemes, vowels, consonants, letters etc.  The author suggests reconsidering the idea of universal scientific truths and their correlation to reality in the context of the “events-and-things” metaphysics.
