Islamic Culture Research Foundation starts working on preparation of "Islam on the territory of the former Russian Empire” electronic encyclopaedia

On 31 January 2018 the President of the Islamic Culture Research Foundation, Hamid Hadavimogaddam met Stanislav Prozorov, an outstanding Russian expert in Islamic studies. 

While discussing cooperation prospects, Hamid Hadavimogaddam said: "You are the author and editor of the "Islam on the territory of the former Russian Empire” encyclopaedic dictionary, a completely unparalleled edition. It contains unique information about Islam. We will be happy not only to participate in the publication of the second volume of this encyclopaedic dictionary, but also to initiate the preparation of its electronic version in order to make sure the dictionary is available for the widest possible range of readers”.

In addition, speaking of the future prospects for this project, the President of the Foundation said: "Taking into account the high demand from foreign readers, we are ready to ensure the translation of the dictionary into Persian and English."

Apart from the encyclopaedic dictionary project, the parties also discussed the projects related to compiling a biobibliographical dictionary of Russian experts in Islamic studies, launching the media project called "The oral history of Russian Islamic Studies", as well as publishing the collections of classical articles written by Russian-speaking experts in Islamic studies.

The Foundation has been cooperating with the Institute of Oriental Manuscripts and personally with Stanislav Prozorov for more than a decade. He is one of the co-founders of the Islamic Culture Research Foundation and the academic director of the Institute of Oriental Manuscripts of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
