Since 2009 the Islamic Culture Research Foundation and the Institute of Philosophy of Russian Academy of Sciences have been publishing the academic literature series called “Philosophical thought of the Muslim world”, whose editor-in-chief is a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the director of the Institute of Philosophy of Russian Academy of Sciences.
More than 10 books devoted to Islamic philosophy have been published within the series. Among those responsible for their preparation were representatives of the Institute of Philosophy (I.R. Nasyrov, A.V. Smirnov, E.A. Frolova), as well as members of other scientific and educational institutions (R.V. Pskhu, F.O. Nofal).
The series consists of 3 sections: Translations, Research, and Textbooks.
Among the published books there are the translations of the Ibn Arabi’s and Seyyid Husein Nasr’s works and 7 volumes of Islamic philosophy research, which includes such important works as “Foundations of Islamic mysticism” by I.R. Nasyrov, “Arab philosophy discourse” by E.A. Frolova and collection of essays entitled “Scattered” and “organised”: strategies of arranging semantic space in Arab Muslim culture”, edited by A.V. Smirnov.
A two-volume textbook on the history of Arab Muslim philosophy has been published. It includes the textbook itself and an anthology of classical texts.
The series might soon include the “Ibn Khaldun, Muqaddimah (selection)” monographs by A.V. Smirnov, “Philosophy of the Muslim world’s music” by G.B. Shamilli, “The Secret Rose Garden” by Mahmud Shabistari, “Encyclopedia of Sufi wisdom” and others.
