Abstract

These tales and parables have been taken from the book "Kalila and Dimna", which has an amazing history. Its characters were born in ancient India. The book is about two intelligent jackals who have conversations and tell different stories about people and animals.

The book quickly became popular not only in India but also in neighbouring countries, and was read for centuries by Persians and Arabs alike. The Iranian writer Mojgan Sheikhi has selected the most famous stories from "Kalila and Dimna" and retold them using a simple and clear language for children and youth. These stories are now available in Russian.
